The New York Giants are off to a great start to the 2026 season. With a 4-2-1 record and a game against division rival the Philadelphia Eagles coming up, the G-Men lead the NFC East. It seems like a familiar face will be rejoining the active roster. After patiently waiting for his turn to return to the NFL field, a former Biletnikoff Award winner is back. The Giants signed 25-year-old wide receiver Jalin Hyatt from their practice squad this Saturday. New York will give Hyatt another chance to show why they took him in the 3rd round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Hyatt has struggled since getting into the league. Coming out of college, he was seen as the biggest deep threat in college football, and many thought the Giants had a steal when they took him. Unfortunately, he has struggled to create separation against defensive backs, and the Giants are hoping to see a change this time around. Over two years on the team, he didn’t score a touchdown and only caught 13 passes. Many fans are already unhappy about the 25-year-old's move back to the active roster. When the South Carolina native was chosen, he hoped to be the guy who took this receiving corps to the next level, but he did the opposite. Only time will tell if he can make an impact when he steps back onto the field.
His promotion comes at an important time for the G-men, as wide receiver and return man Charlie Jones went down with a hand injury. If he can't suit up, Hyatt could contribute on special teams and possibly earn snaps on offense. For the former Volunteers offensive star, this opportunity is more than just a spot on the team. It’s one more chance to show he has what it takes to thrive in this offense. With his undeniable speed and agility, he has the tools to be a great deep threat for the Giants. Whether he can take advantage of the opportunity and be here in the future remains to be seen, but the Giants clearly aren't done with the former Belkinicoff winner just yet.
