23-Year-Old Guard with a Ton of Potential Inks Agreement to Return to the Nets
During the 2024-2025 NBA season, the Brooklyn Nets sank to the bottom of the Eastern Conference, finishing 12th with a 26-56 record. Besides the Philadelphia 76ers and Toronto Raptors, the Brooklyn Nets were easily one of the worst teams from the Atlantic Division. This Nets team is clearly looking towards the future as they rebuild their franchise back to a playoff-caliber status. One player who could make a huge impact during Brooklyn’s rebuild is 23-year-old guard Cam Thomas. The young guard has a ton of potential and actually led the Nets in scoring during the past season. After an unsuccessful season, Thomas became a free agent. It’s been reported by Shams Charania that he’s signed a one-year, six-million-dollar qualifying deal with the Brooklyn Nets.
In college, Thomas played with the LSU Tigers. In his debut with the Tigers, he dropped 27 points in LSU’s win over SIU Edwardsville. The young guard with a ton of potential was selected as the 27th overall pick by the Brooklyn Nets during the 2021 NBA Draft. It’s been a delightful and impactful past four seasons in Brooklyn for the 23-year-old guard. Thomas started in his rookie season, averaging about nine points a game. This past season, he led the Nets in scoring, recording 24 points a game. Although he played in just 25 games this season, there was no denying that when healthy, Thomas was the top guy for this Brooklyn Nets team.
Thomas started in 23 out of the 25 games he played this past season. He averaged about 24 points, three rebounds, four assists, and a steal. On November 15th, during a 124-122 loss to the New York Knicks, the 23-year-old guard dropped 43 points along with two rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block. On March 15th, the Nets announced that Thomas was ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a left hamstring strain. With the Nets, the young guard with a ton of potential hopes to remain healthy, as well as being one of the top scoring options for the team. Also, with Brooklyn, Thomas hopes to continue the trajectory his career was heading in.
