25-Year-Old Versatile Wing Player Re-Signs with the 76ers

NBA

After a breakout season split between Dallas and Philadelphia, Quentin Grimes headed into free agency as one of the more intriguing young guards on the market. The 25-year-old shooting guard showed significant growth during the 2024-2025 campaign, especially after landing with the 76ers midseason. Grimes provided floor spacing, on-ball defense, and a scoring punch that gave Philadelphia a needed boost. Now, with his stock rising and his game continuing to evolve, Grimes is poised to continue to elevate his play in Philly. Today, it was reported by Shams Charania that Grimes signed a one-year, $8.7 million qualifying offer with the 76ers. He will spend one more season in Philadelphia before entering free agency again next summer.

A former first-round pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Grimes began his journey with the New York Knicks after being traded on draft night from the Los Angeles Clippers. Known for his strong perimeter shooting and defensive instincts, he gradually earned more minutes with the Knicks before bouncing to Detroit, then Dallas, and eventually Philadelphia. Though his role varied across teams, his skill set remained consistent: tough defense, catch-and-shoot ability, and underrated playmaking. In Philadelphia, Grimes stepped into a starting role and responded with confidence, showing that he can thrive with more responsibility.

In 243 regular-season games across four seasons, Grimes has averaged 10.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and two assists per game on 44.4% shooting from the field and 37.5% from three. During the 2024-2025 season, he set career highs in nearly every major category, averaging 14.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, and three assists while shooting 46.7% from the floor and 38.5% from deep. His two-way value stood out during his time in Philadelphia, where he started 25 games and averaged 21.9 points per game in an extended role before the offseason.

Now entering his prime, Grimes returns to Philadelphia, where he now has a year of both stability and the opportunity to continue growing with the 76ers. Philadelphia offers Grimes the right blend of structure and freedom to maximize his skill set. He could potentially establish himself as one of the league’s premier Three-and-D wings. With a defined role and a fresh start with the Sixers, this next chapter may be Grimes’ best yet.
