27-Year-Old Star Running Back Is Re-Signing with the Broncos

NFL

Denver Broncos star running back J.K. Dobbins is entering free agency and doesn’t look to be headed to a brand-new team anytime soon. He has been around the league a few times already and is ready to stay in Denver to run it back. In recent matters, Dobbins re-signed with the Broncos. Denver picking him up is considered one of the biggest steals in the NFL. Dobbins signed a contract for the next two years.

The 27-year-old is a top-tier running back who spent last season playing with the Denver Broncos and receiving passes from quarterback Bo Nix. This is not the team that he originated from. He was drafted in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens. He was a standout running back coming out of Ohio State. Many had expected him to get picked up earlier, but he was drafted by the Ravens, who at the time needed to fix their league-leading rushing attack.

Since then, he has played for the Ravens, the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Broncos, with whom he went to the playoffs this past year. Over his career and through the 2025 season, he tallied over 3,000 rushing yards and scored 25 rushing touchdowns. He has also contributed 70 receptions for 367 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown, showcasing his versatility as a dual-threat back. In the 2025 season specifically, Dobbins played in 10 games and accumulated 772 rushing yards on 153 carries, scoring four touchdowns. He averaged about five yards per carry.

Dobbins ended his season when he suffered a foot injury during Week 10. He spent the rest of the season on the injury reserve. However, when the season ended, Dobbins was tasked with returning to practice as Denver entered the NFL Playoffs. However, Denver ruled him out, saying he would not play against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Round. Since then, he entered into free agency and re-signed with the team. The 27-year-old will be as good as new for them despite suffering the injury.

Now that Dobbins is ready for the new year, he is ready to make his stats larger than ever before. Denver is hungrier than ever after Nix went down, which took him out of that AFC Championship game the Broncos knew they had the Patriots beat. If they can stay strong and have the same showing they did in 2025, the Broncos could be a huge threat. Only time will tell for Dobbins and Denver.
