Aaron Rodgers Open-Door Policy is Helping Him Build Rapport with Teammates and Coaching Staff

NFL

Fans and analysts have been speculating about how well quarterback Aaron Rodgers would fit in with the Steelers since he joined the team in June. He’s making communication and team chemistry a priority. Rodgers revealed that he has an open-door policy with his teammates and the coaching staff. He encourages everyone to share their ideas with him. His open-door policy has helped him build rapport with his teammates and the coaching staff. Rodgers spoke about it. He said, “I think that’s an important part of it, just letting those guys know that there’s no dictatorship here. It’s not Arthur Smith’s dictatorship or mine. We want to talk about all the issues and all the things you’re seeing. Whether it’s a text message or coming to my room  and having a conversation, those are invaluable times to get on the same page with the guys.”

Rodgers and offensive coordinator Arthur Smith have been getting along great.  They spent two-and-a-half hours talking football on Tuesday night. Rodgers spoke about Smith. He said, “It’s storytelling from time to time, but Smith’s not a rigid guy at all. Any ideas I have or the receivers have, he really appreciates it. We’ve installed stuff I’ve looked at, or other guys have had similar ideas. I have an open forum in my room. Anytime you want to come in and suggest something, let me know, and I’ll take it right to Art. I’ve just really enjoyed him as a person a lot, and the way he leads in front of a room. It’s been a lot of fun so far.”

Rodgers has been building close relationships with his teammates. He said that they’re taking advantage of the open-door policy, so they can suggest ideas and make sure they’re all on the same page. Rodgers and his training camp suitemate DK Metcalf frequently have conversations. Ben Skowronek has become so familiar with Rodgers that he doesn’t knock anymore when he comes to talk. The Steelers’ offense has finally started to click during their recent practices. Rodgers is optimistic about the progress they’ve made. He remarked, “The plays are rolling off good, and I feel good about the offense — much better than last week.”
