All We Know About the 2030 FIFA World Cup

Good things end fast. The 2026 FIFA World Cup was a special one, with more teams and locations than ever before. The biggest event in sport’s history did not disappoint, and now fans are wondering what will come next. The future of the 2026 FIFA World Cup stars and teams seems bright, with multiple tournaments to come. Although we still have four more years until the next World Cup, preparations are already underway. Given the proportions of the 2026 World Cup, it is expected that the 2030 edition will be as massive as its predecessor. Expectations are high, so if you are one of those people who is already looking forward to the next Soccer World Cup, here is everything we know about it.

Three Different Continents and Six Countries

The 2030 World Cup is set to take place mostly in Portugal, Spain, and Morocco, with three special games happening in Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay. This World Cup marks the centennial of the inaugural FIFA World Cup, held in Uruguay in 1930. To commemorate 100 years of the FIFA World Cup, a celebratory game will be held in Montevideo at the Estadio Centenario, the site of the 1930 World Cup final, which Uruguay won. The runners-up of the 1930 edition of the tournament were Argentina, which is why one game will be played at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires. Paraguay will also be holding a match in Asuncion, given that the country is home to CONMEBOL’s headquarters, the only confederation that existed when the first World Cup took place.

A Longer Run

101 matches are planned, with a schedule running from June 8th, 2030, to July 21st, 2030, when the final is expected to take place. The World Cup will run for a total of 44 days, which is five more than this year’s edition. The calendar was designed to ensure the well-being and acclimation of the teams traveling across continents in a short span of time. FIFA proposed expanding expandingtion to 64 teams to celebrate the centennial, but the idea was widely criticized for reducing the number of teams. The 2030 edition was the same format as the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which includes 48 teams and a Round of 32.

Final Thoughts

Four years will go by in the blink of an eye, trust me. Before you know it, the 2030 World Cup will be underway, and the thrills will be back. Certainly, no one wants the excitement of the 2026 FIFA World Cup to end, but it is inevitable. Thankfully, the world of sports never stops, and in just two years, we will have the Olympics to keep us busy. Feeling lost after the World Cup Final? You are not alone, and we will try to keep writing interesting stories, so you don’t feel like the post-FIFA World Cup world is grey and emotionless.
