Big Blue Begins Their 2025 Season: What to Watch During the Giants First Preseason Game

NFL

The New York Football Giants have had a hectic offseason trying to get everything together for this coming season. Big Blue is officially preparing for its first preseason game of the year. On Saturday afternoon, the Giants will take on the Buffalo Bills. The teams will not be using their starting players, but secondary and third-string players will get a chance to shine. The Giants want to take it easy for their first few games before they bring in the starting players and decide who will be captains and who will be playing with the first-string. There are several things to look forward to in this first game of the Giants’ season.

Everyone will get to see New York's new faces. Jaxson Dart will be the team's starting quarterback for this game. Jameis Winston may be his backup during this game. Dart will have the chance to explore the field and see how things work in the NFL. He will show what he can do, and it will be out of the practice fields and into a real game. Abdul Carter will also show what he can do for the first time in a preseason game. He showed a lot of flash during the Giants’ training camp. The coaches liked what they saw from him, and he is already a promising linebacker and most likely will be in a starting role at the beginning of the regular season. Carter has largely been impactful during the red zone plays. So there should be no issues in that area with the rest of the defensive line.

The offensive line is continuing to rebuild, and the team will continue its secondary battles as it figures out which players will start and who will be put on the back burner for the season. Cor’Dale Flott is still questionable with how he’s been practicing, but he is offering chances for others to take the starting role. The Giants have a lot going for them this weekend, despite it being only the first game of the preseason. The Giants are trying to keep the team as stable as possible going into the first week. The Giants know what they are working with. It will be a bonus that they will not be making as many errors as they have in the past year.

This game is going to be important for both of these football teams. It's a development for both the Bills and the Giants. It’s a chance to see how Dart, Winston, and their new players are going to showcase on offense and defense. It’s more about stability and growth before they move ahead. It’s all about the early-season rehearsal with several limited stakes but lots of chances for these players to make their case for starting roles.
