Bron Breakker vs. ‘The Ruler’: Who Becomes the Future of WWE at SNME 2026?
At SummerSlam 2026, ‘The Ruler’ Oba Femi proved that he belonged among the top stars after putting away Brock Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell. After the match, ‘The Beast Incarnate’ seemingly called it a career and praised Femi, labeling him as the future of WWE. Although many could agree that Femi can live up to that potential, that quote didn’t sit well with one member of the Monday Night Raw roster. ‘The Unpredictable Badass’ Bron Breakker questioned everyone from Femi to Paul Heyman, trying to figure out how someone else could be labeled as the future of WWE and not him. A confrontation between both men has now led to a matchup between the two destructive forces to determine who really is the future of WWE at Sunday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta, Georgia, on September 6th.
Femi has shown no signs of slowing down since making his arrival to the main roster at Royal Rumble 2026. Coincidentally, Breakker would be Femi’s first victim in the match after ‘The Unpredictable Badass’ was attacked by a masked man, who later turned out to be Seth Rollins. ‘The Ruler’ would continue his streak of dominance, destroying all foes, including Lesnar, who looked to be done with professional wrestling after being slain at WrestleMania 42 by Femi. ‘The Beast Incarnate would return to get some revenge on ‘The Ruler’ at Clash in Italy 2026, but it would be Femi who got the last laugh after surviving inside the sadistic structure at SummerSlam 2026. Although the former two-time NXT Champion gave up his world title opportunity following his King of the Ring victory at Night of Champions, there’s no doubt he will surely become the top champion sometime in the near future. Like many other superstars before him, however, he also has his detractors, and Breakker is certainly one of them.
When Breakker made his way onto the main roster in 2024, many labeled him as the future of the industry. He made a name for himself very quickly, becoming the Intercontinental Champion in dominating fashion. His alignment with Rollins as a member of The Vision should have been a turning point in his career, especially after the way he kicked Rollins out of the group, but the former two-time Intercontinental Champion’s trajectory quickly went downhill from there. The addition of Logan Paul and Austin Theory certainly took some of the spotlight out of him, but it seemed more evident that he was out of place within the group. ‘The Unpredictable Badass’ continues to be a part of The Vision, even becoming a World Tag Team Champion, but with his talents being limited to a group with no clear direction, he needed to do something that reminded the fans why he is dangerous. By calling out Femi, Breakker proved that he is not a stepping stone for others and wants to rightfully reclaim his place as the future of the business.
Both Femi and Breakker excelled during their time in NXT, and while both of them have had some success on the main roster, it’s clear the late Femi is the star that everyone wants to cheer for. Breakker has to find that monster that made him a force to be reckoned with when he arrived on the main roster, while Femi just needs to keep the momentum he’s carried all year going. If Breakker wants to prove he can lead WWE into the future, he must do it by putting down ‘The Ruler’. Otherwise, ‘The Unpredictable Badass’ will continue to fade into obscurity.
