Buffalo Bills Training Camp Day Two Notes

NFL

The Buffalo Bills are in full swing at day two of training camp held at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, New York. With the 2025 season fast approaching, the team is suited up and hitting the field in their final push to be the strongest team possible. Many players at camp are vying for roster spots or battling it out for specific starting positions. Training camp is set to run around two weeks, concluding August 7th, and will shape the Bills’ outlook for the rest of the season.

Day two of training camp brought sweltering heat to Rochester, with temperatures in the 90s, possibly hindering field execution. Still, the team remained in the zone. Josh Allen, the team's star quarterback, reiterated the Bills’ message at camp: "Just put your head down and work," Allen said. "It's two and a half weeks in camp. They go quickly, but you can really show who you are as a person, as a player…Let's tune everything out. Give me two and a half weeks of everything that you got, and we'll go from there." More attention is on this year's camp with the filming of HBO’s new season of Hard Knocks, but the extra eyes aren't expected to waver the team's focus.

On the offensive front, many observed crisp plays towards the second half of camp by wide receivers Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman. Elijah Moore also snagged a nice catch in the second half of practice. Many questions arose regarding offensive running back James Cook and where he stands with the team amidst contract disputes. Today, in a press conference, he said, “It’s a great organization, and they drafted me. I believe they drafted me for a reason, and I’m willing to be here and spend the rest of my career here.” Cook could eventually be receiving a new contract from the Bills.
Defensively, many newcomers made their mark on the field, specifically edge rusher Michael Hoecht and linebacker Shaq Thompson. Both made plays on Allen, intercepting and nearly sacking the quarterback. Two more injuries were made to the defense line; however, Dorian Williams and A.J. Epenesa both left practice early. A statement regarding the injuries has yet to be announced. Training camp will continue tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. ET.
