Can the 23-Year-Old Truck Driver Complete the Most Dominant Truck Season in History?

Corey Heim has put together one of the most impressive seasons in the history of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. The 23-year-old has racked up eight wins in the 2025 season, and six races remain. With that total, he is two wins away from breaking the record for wins in a single season, currently held by Greg Biffle with nine wins in 1999. Heim’s eighth win came in at Darlington in the opening race of the 2025 Playoffs, which advanced Heim straight to the second round. The Darlington win was the third in a row for Heim.

In the regular season, Heim wasted no time getting to victory lane, as he won the season opener at Daytona. He took home six more checkered flags throughout the regular season and ran away with the regular season championship. Heim finished 190 points ahead of second-place driver Layne Riggs, more than three races' worth of points. It all happened in 18 races.

Entering the Playoffs, Heim had 65 playoff points, which set the record in the truck series for the most playoff points accumulated in the regular season, and was 61 points above the elimination line. Even with his one-race advantage, Heim found the winner's circle and a punched ticket to the next round right away. Now, with two races where Heim can go for a win without the pressure of points, he may end up grabbing another win. The upcoming races could play well into his hands.

Bristol, New Hampshire, the Charlotte Roval, Talladega, Martinsville, and Phoenix are the remaining races on the truck calendar. While the Charlotte Roval is a new track for the truck series, Heim has experience on the others, having raced full-time seasons in 2023 and 2024. In 2023, Heim won at Bristol, and in 2024, Heim finished second at Bristol and Phoenix. With Bristol next on the calendar, added with Heim’s average finish of 1.5 at the track and his three-race win streak, Biffle may see his record tied after Thursday night’s action.

Should Heim make it to the championship round in Phoenix, it would be his third bout at capturing the crown. The 2023 championship race saw Heim nearly take it home before chaos ensued in the waning moments. The playoffs force desperate drivers to take desperate measures, and have proven in the past that anything can happen. Heim finished 18th in the race and fourth in the Championship Four. A year later, Heim was one spot short of the title. Now, with a chance to take the record for wins in a truck series season, Heim could put a bow on it all if he makes it to the championship race and rises to the occasion on his third attempt at the title. At this rate, an untimely crash or engine expiration seems to be the only thing that can stop Heim on his quest to rule the 2025 NASCAR Truck Series.
