Can the Cowboys End Their 2025 Season on a Win Streak?

NFL

On Monday Night Football, the Cowboys’ season was given an extra lifeline as the Los Angeles Chargers defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in a defensive overtime battle. The Cowboys still need Philadelphia to lose two more games if they want to end their season on a strong note, but before Dallas can worry about the Eagles' side of things, they need to focus on winning the games ahead of them. It starts this Sunday as Dallas will take on the Minnesota Vikings at home. What follows next are games that can determine if the Cowboys can keep their playoff chances alive.

The first of the Cowboys’ final four games will present a difficult challenge. Minnesota boasts one of the best defenses in the NFL, with defensive coordinator Brian Flores intent on making Dak Prescott’s day as difficult as possible. For Dallas to succeed offensively, it will need to be a strong performance from Prescott, who historically thrives against the blitz, a staple of the Vikings’ defensive approach. Defensively, the Cowboys’ ability to pressure J.J. McCarthy will be critical to securing a victory. Detroit previously found success by controlling the interior and maintaining pressure, allowing its offense to operate smoothly. If Dallas can disrupt McCarthy while Prescott delivers an elite performance through the air, the Cowboys should position themselves well to earn a win.

The remaining three games on the Cowboys' schedule bring some challenges. The following week after the Vikings, they play the Chargers, one of the most competitive teams looking to maintain a wildcard spot in the AFC. After that, Dallas will travel to Washington, D.C., then New York to close the season against two division rivals. The Cowboys are likely to be favored in each of these games, with the Chargers matchup expected to be closer on the spread, though Dallas is still projected to win. For the Cowboys to have any chance at making the playoffs, they must win every remaining game. Dallas has the talent to accomplish that task, though the lingering question is whether the team can perform under pressure when it matters most. The Eagles and future scenarios can wait, as whatever hope remains begins this Sunday night.
