Cardinals Star Quarterback Out for the Season: Will He Play in a Cardinals Uniform Again?
Kyler Murray was originally going to play today against the Los Angeles Rams. However, his foot has not been healing as quickly as he had originally thought, and now he is out for the season. In Week Five against the Titans, Murray suffered a mid-foot sprain. At the time, this did not seem like a big deal. However, he has failed to make enough progress to even play another game this season.
The Future
Kyler Murray has not had much success as the starting quarterback for the Cardinals. He is in his seventh season and has only reached the playoffs once. Cardinals fans are tired of the lack of production that they see in Kyler Murray. The Media recently asked Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon if he thought that Murray would be the starter next season. Gannon dodged the question, explaining that the Rams were his main priority right now. If Murray were to have played again this season, he could’ve tried to prove that he still deserves to be the starter. Sadly, he may not get that opportunity again. The reality is, Kyler Murray is an expensive problem to have. If the Cardinals get rid of him, they will lose money. The question is, how important is the success of next year’s team? Is it important enough to take a cap hit, releasing your starting quarterback who can’t seem to produce?
Kyler Murray is not coming back this season, but even more than that, he might not ever wear a Cardinals jersey again. He may never get the chance to prove that he belongs in Arizona. This season was not his fault, but he had six other seasons that lacked productivity. The Cardinals will need to make a decision. However, Murray being injured for the rest of the season may have made this decision easier.
