Colorado Head Coach to Address Ongoing Health Battle in Monday Presser

All eyes are on Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders once again, as the Colorado Buffaloes head coach prepares to address the media this coming Monday in what could be the most revealing update yet on his ongoing health concerns. After weeks of limited public appearances and growing speculation, Sanders is expected to hold a press conference at 1:00 p.m. ET, joined by members of his medical team from CU Anschutz and UCHealth. While details remain unknown, this marks his first official public statement about the condition that has sidelined him from several key football activities over the summer. Coach Prime recently posted a hopeful message on X, formerly Twitter, declaring he was “back and feeling great.” However, in a video shared by his son, Deion Jr., Sanders acknowledged that he’s “still going through something” and hasn’t made a full recovery.

His brief appearance at Big 12 Media Days earlier this month added more fuel to the curiosity. When asked directly about his health, Sanders kept it vague: “I’m already back … I’m here today. I’m handling my responsibilities.” While optimistic, his remarks did little to quell questions about his enthusiasm for fully leading the Buffaloes into the 2025 season.

A Complicated Health History

Coach Prime is no stranger to medical battles. In 2021, he underwent multiple surgeries and had two toes amputated due to blood clots. In 2023, he required additional procedures to restore circulation in his legs. The current health issue, while unspecified, appears to be serious enough to limit his involvement in team operations over the last few months. In a May podcast appearance with former NFL cornerback Asante Samuel, Sanders opened up about a 14-pound weight loss and described the situation as being “on a whole other level.”

What Does This Mean for Colorado?

As Colorado heads into Fall camp, the Buffaloes are in a season of transition. With superstars like Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter now pursuing NFL dreams, the focus is on development, depth, and building a new team identity. Sanders’s presence or absence at the helm could significantly shape that process. While his signature charisma remains whole, the press conference on Monday may finally offer clarity: not just about his health, but about how the program plans to move forward under his leadership.
