Could a Former Titans WR Join the Saints?

NFL

The New Orleans Saints will need to make some important roster decisions in the near future. Some of the players on their offense have already proven their capabilities this season, which has likely piqued the interest of their competition. RB Alvin Kamara continues to play well and, fortunately, has made it known that he won’t leave for another team. His teammate, WR Chris Olave, has put up high enough numbers to affirm that he is vying to become one of the season’s top wide receivers. With this in mind, perhaps Olave will be among those who will want to be traded before the November 4th deadline. Before head coach Kellen Moore or offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier choose to proceed with this trade, I would like to suggest contacting current free agent WR Tyler Boyd to ask him if he would like to play in New Orleans.

Mr. Boyd isn’t new to playing professional football. His career began when he was drafted 55th overall in 2016 by the Cincinnati Bengals. Tyler’s rookie season in the NFL as a wide receiver would result in him starting in two of the 16 games played, during which he would make 54 receptions for 603 receiving yards and one touchdown. His next seven seasons would be spent remaining in Cincinnati, during which he would start in 75 of the 104 games played, during which he would make another 459 receptions for 5,397 receiving yards and 30 touchdowns. Following the end of his contract extension that he had signed to stay on the team through the 2023 season, Boyd would then sign a single-year contract to play for the Tennessee Titans. During the 2024 season, he had eight starts of the 16 games played. Tyler would conclude his rookie Titan season with 39 receptions for 390 receiving yards.

Hopefully, for the New Orleans Saints fans and players, the decision to trade Chris Olave won’t happen. The management will need to do whatever is possible to keep this valuable member on their roster if they hope to have a chance to make it to the playoffs. However, it would also be a smart idea to prepare for the possibility before that important trade deadline arrives. There is room for improvement, which could be done by adding another experienced player, such as Tyler Boyd, to the offense. Giving the ball to this 30-year-old veteran wide receiver may be a potential solution for gaining yardage instead of constantly relying on the running game of Alvin Kamara. Perhaps trying something different, such as signing this free agent, will show the league that this team isn’t determined to remain in last place within their division.
