Could a Three-Time AL MVP Win His Fourth in 2026?

MLB

There is no denying that Mike Trout is a future Hall of Famer once he retires. A three-time AL MVP, an 11-time all-star, and a nine-time Silver Slugger, Trout has pretty much done it all in his Hall of Fame career except win a World Series with the Los Angeles Angels. The Angels are 10-10, after their 11-4 win over the New York Yankees on Thursday afternoon. During this four-game series in the Bronx, the three-time AL MVP smashed five home runs and had nine RBIs. At 34 years of age, could Trout claim his fourth MVP Award in 2026?

On Monday, April 13th, the three-time AL MVP ripped two homers and collected five RBIs in the Angels’ 11-10 loss. The following night, Trout hit a first-inning solo home run, the first of three home runs in a row to give Los Angeles a 3-0 lead, which eventually helped the team receive a 7-1 victory. Last night, the Angels lost 5-4; however, Trout had another home run with two RBIs, continuing his unreal streak in Yankee Stadium. During today’s win, the 34-year-old had another solo home run, bringing his total to seven in the first 21 games of the 2026 season. Thus far, he’s behind last year’s AL MVP, Yankees Aaron Judge, who has eight; nonetheless, at 34, Trout has shown that he can keep up with the game’s best.

After this series in New York, the Angels will face the San Diego Padres, Toronto Blue Jays, and the Kansas City Royals. If Los Angeles can continue to win games and climb the standings in the AL West while Trout is being a key contributor day in and day out, the three-time AL MVP could very well be on his way to winning his fourth MVP Award in 2026. The 34-year-old will continue to dominate the plate, but if the team he’s spent his 16-year career with could find a path to the MLB Playoffs, it would make all the more reasons to hand Trout the award. With over 400 home runs in his career, the three-time AL MVP could make his 16th season with the Angels one of his most special, with another MVP and a playoff appearance. Plus, with the Yankees showing their true identity in 2026, they may struggle more further into the season.

While it’s a long season, Los Angeles finally has a team that could give them success for the first time in years. With the Angels’ defense improving from a season ago, and Trout being the Hall of Fame player he is, this could only generate more success. The AL West Division has also struggled to begin the season; it’s very likely the division could be up for grabs, which would be huge for the Angels, who are desperately looking to clinch a postseason spot once again. The three-time AL MVP is ready to continue dominating the MLB to claim his fourth prestigious award.
