Could Rafael Camara Be the Next F1 Rookie One Day?
After a fantastic drive in Budapest at the beginning of August, and a sealed Formula 3 title, Rafeal Camara’s growth has never seemed more dominant than now. Ferrari’s Deputy Team Principal, Jerome D’Ambrosio, confirmed that it has been an exceptionally successful 2025 campaign for the Brazilian. Camara’s rookie season in the Championship turned heads and further proved that the 20-year-old who began competitive kart racing at the age of six could become a true legend as he continues to grow in his racing. With four race wins, five pole positions, and coming closer to the one title all drivers dream of, Camara has proved to be one of the most paced and controlled drivers in Formula 3.
Now, the question that hangs in the air is whether he can become the next Formula 2 driver and Formula 1 rookie. With this mass experience behind the young driver, he could slide into Formula 2 with ease. The Brazilian debuted in Formula 4 with Prema, finishing as the runner-up in the UAE Championship. He finished in third in the Italian and ADAC Championships, which helped him progress to the Formula Regional in 2023. Camara finished in third in the Middle East and achieved victories in the European Championship. The young driver also won the next season with Perma.
Everything added up for Camara in 2025, as D’Ambrosio confirmed that the season could not have gone smoother for the driver. D’Ambrosio also says that since Camara has joined the team, he has made fantastic progress as the years go on. With these recent successes, Camara made his impression on Formula 1 teams. He has been a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy since 2022, and during his time there, he has never finished a single-seater campaign outside of the top five. That is a whole achievement in itself, and a sure way to earn his spot in Formula 2. Maybe soon, even a spot with a Formula 1 team. Camara may even go as far as securing a spot with Ferrari if all goes accordingly. Hopefully, soon we will see the name Rafeal Camara on the Formula 1 grid, but until then, good luck to the young Brazilian driver.
