Could TNA Wrestling Invade Again at No Mercy?
Last night, on NXT, the rumors of an invasion were confirmed as superstars from TNA Wrestling showed up on NXT and fought the NXT roster to close out the show. Last week, when it was announced that the NXT Champion Oba Femi would face the TNA World Champion Trick Williams in a title vs. title, winner-take-all match, the TNA roster was upset and voiced their displeasure over not being included in a decision that would shake the foundation of both of their brands. TNA, in this situation, feels like the WWE is disrespecting them and sees them as inferior to them. The disrespect that TNA felt was evident from the opening walk-in segment to the brawl that concluded the show, with the TNA superstars standing in the middle of the ring, which was shown off-air. This is just the first step in a long-term storyline involving both brands. However, with NXT’s upcoming No Mercy Premium Live Event, scheduled for this Saturday, the question remains: could TNA invade again?
With the storyline just starting between these two brands, another invasion spot on a PLE would be a smart move. Having TNA invade at No Mercy would give fans more excitement, and the momentum of the storyline would be at a fever pitch. This is probably something that fans are anticipating, given what happened on the go-home show of NXT. From a storyline perspective, this would give TNA more credibility by having the “little brother” attack the big brother one more time to show that they are serious. An idea for both brands to do on the No Mercy show is to have TNA pick off the roster one by one. First, TNA can take out the NXT tag team division in a backstage segment, then the women’s roster can take out the NXT Women’s Division. Finally, they can take out the majority of the men’s roster and close the show by taking out the NXT Champion, whether it's Femi or Ricky Saints. With this strategy, TNA closes out another NXT show on top and shows the WWE that they are a force to be reckoned with.
This storyline is just getting started, and fans should expect it to continue into Sunday’s event, TNA’s Bound For Glory event, and beyond that. The stars of TNA showed that they will not be pushed around in favor of the stars of the big conglomeration that is the WWE. However, it will be interesting to see what NXT’s response will be. Stars such as Trick Williams are not backing down, and neither will TNA stars such as Mike Santana. Fans are in for a storyline that should stretch for the remainder of 2025, and the next chapter in this rivalry could come as soon as No Mercy.
