Crushed Cardinals Head to Indianapolis in Hopes of Rebounding Against Red-Hot Colts
A reeling Arizona Cardinals group will look to stop the bleeding in Week Six this Sunday, as they head to Indianapolis to take on the Colts. It will not be an easy task for Arizona, 2-3, to rebound after what it has been through over the past three weeks, as it will be taking on an Indianapolis group that has surprised many people by going 4-1 to start the season. Along with the fact that the Cardinals will be dealing with a team that has seen the majority of its success at home, with the Colts being 3-0 at home so far, injuries have begun to pose a problem, with one standing out above the rest. Take a look at how each team has fared, along with what they’ll be looking like heading into Sunday’s game, below.
First and foremost, we have Arizona, which, needless to say, has looked pretty terrible at closing games this season. Though they won their first two games, it took a lot of luck for the Cardinals not to fall to 0-2 to start the season. However, Arizona’s luck would be completely diminished when it came to starting NFC West Division play, as the Cardinals would drop games against the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks to game-winning field goals. To think that was bad enough would be an understatement, as not only did Arizona lose its most recent game to the then-winless Tennessee Titans by a game-winning field goal, but it did so in one of the biggest collapses a team could have had. The Cardinals had a plethora of opportunities to put a reeling Titans team away for good, but committed so many disastrous mistakes leading to a wild finish. Now, Arizona looks to once again flush out the past and try and rebuild a better future by taking on an Indianapolis team that has looked dominant thus far. However, it won’t be easy for the Cardinals to do so, as a handful of injuries may prevent them from doing so. Highlighted by quarterback Kyler Murray, who sustained a foot injury during the loss to Tennessee, was listed as questionable on the final injury report after only being able to practice at a limited capacity on Friday. This injury may give way to backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett to earn a start for Arizona, but it may limit the Cardinals’ offensive ability.
As for the Colts, they’ll be looking to build off their most recent win, as they dominated the Las Vegas Raiders 40-6 at home in Week Five. Despite falling to the Los Angeles Rams 27-20 on the road in Week Four, Indianapolis has looked dominant in almost every fashion, spearheaded by the resurgence of quarterback Daniel Jones. Through five games, Jones has completed an astounding 71.3% of his passes for 1,290 yards, six touchdowns and only two interceptions. The former sixth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft left his career in doubt after having trouble sticking around as the starting quarterback for the New York Giants, but he has now looked to find a new home with the Colts. Along with Jones, running back Jonathan Taylor has looked as strong as ever, leading now only his team, but the NFL in rushing yards with 480 and touchdowns with six. It’ll be a tough task for Arizona to try and stop this high-powered Indianapolis offense, but it will need to attempt to do so if it wants to turn the season around. The matchup between the Cardinals and Colts will kick off at 1:00 p.m. EST Sunday from Lucas Oil Stadium. The game will be televised on FOX.
