Davante Adams Will Blow This Former Rams 2024 Season Out of the Water
The Los Angeles Rams struck early in the NFL offseason with a splash, signing former Las Vegas Raider and New York Jet Davante Adams. Adams was by far the Rams' biggest acquisition of the offseason and is poised for a massive year. The deal was unexpected but a welcome delight for Rams fans. Particularly because the Rams watched one of the franchise’s best receivers walk out the door and head to Seattle.
In a season full of turmoil, Adams maintained his poise and continued his excellent career with a successful 1,063-yard campaign, accompanied by eight touchdowns. These numbers stack up well with the three-time All-Pro’s best seasons of his career. The height of Adams' career came at the hands of the future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers. Now, Adams will get to team up with another future Hall of Famer in Matthew Stafford. But will he be able to outproduce Stafford's former favorite target, Cooper Kupp?
The 32-year-old veteran is still producing at a high level. While his speed and physicality have taken a step down, his top-of-the-league route running and football IQ remain. Meanwhile, brutal injuries have piled up for Kupp. Unlike Adams, the injuries and age have taken a toll on the former Ram. Kupp has been a shell of his former self the past few seasons, failing to reach over 815 yards in three consecutive years.
With 11 years under his belt, Adams knows what it takes to win and has stayed healthy enough to streamline success. That should be no different in 2025. Despite playing alongside superstar Puka Nacua, Adams will get more than enough targets in the Rams' high-momentum offense. Taking a chunk of his snaps in Kupp’s slot position, the crafty receiver will be able to do what he does best.
Currently sitting second in the depth chart, there isn’t much in the way of competition for Adams. Only Tutu Atwell and second-year receiver Jordan Whittington present a threat to Adams for a starting spot. The veteran has done more than enough in his career to prove himself as a stand-alone starting gig. No matter the outcome of training camp, Adams will be in line for a heavy role.
Adams has the faith of the front office, his quarterback and head coach Sean McVay. There is no reason that Adams won’t destroy Kupp in yardage next season. Everything is set up perfectly for the star receiver to present a massive upgrade over Kupp. With the upcoming season in the forefront, keep your eyes on Adams to establish himself and propel the Rams to heights greater than Kupp achieved last season.
