Did the 2026 Dallas Cowboys Find Another Gem at Wide Receiver?

NFL

The Dallas Cowboys won their first preseason game of the 2026 NFL season, beating the Seattle Seahawks 17-7, and there were many positives to take from both sides of the football in what was an unexpected win. Joe Milton and Sam Howell, both quarterbacks, performed admirably during their respective halves of the game, hoping to win the backup quarterback job in Dallas. After a first-drive touchdown by Seattle, Christian Parker's defense would leave the Seahawks scoreless for the rest of the game. The standout performance of former Georgia Southern receiver Camden Brown particularly captured everyone's attention. Brown, who is fighting for a roster spot, has people believing he could become another gem for the Cowboys at wide receiver.

Brown only made three catches on the day, but man, they were special. The first came on Dallas's first touchdown, where Howell would throw a 39-yard bomb to him, and he won a jumpball in the end zone against the Seahawks corner to end the first half. His two other catches were delivered by Milton, the second being a 21-yard catch and run over the middle on a drag concept from the other side of the field. His third and most impressive catch of the day was Dallas's second touchdown, where he won a back-shoulder pylon fade and came down with the football by extending his left hand and hauling it in. Three catches were all it took for Brown to make his name known in the NFL world, and Dallas now has to make a decision on going further at receiver depth.

The first decision the Cowboys have to make is how much more playing time Brown will get in this preseason. After a performance he just had, preserving him might be a choice that Dallas wants to make. Not only was the receiving aspect of his game on display, but his being the solid special teams player he is also shows how versatile he can be in the regular season. The second decision for Dallas is whether Brown makes the roster and which receiver will be dropped to make room for him. Dallas already has arguably the best crop of receivers in the entire league, and the talent they have goes all the way to even the fifth receiver on the depth chart. Dallas will have to make a few decisions about Camden Brown, but there’s a real feeling that he has the potential to be another gem at wide receiver.
