Do the Chiefs Have a True WR1?
When it comes to the Chiefs’ offense, one thing is clear. That is the fact that they do not have a true number one option in reference to wide receivers. Especially with Rashee Rice suspended, and Xavier Worthy having an early-season injury, it’s tough to distinguish one as the clear best. Juju Smith-Schuster has started to step up more, which is promising; however, who knows if his incredible play will continue. This is very important for the Chiefs and will be something to watch out for as the season continues, because if we are going to make a deep playoff run, a set-in-stone number one option will be crucial. This will be a big difference maker for the Chiefs’ success as the season goes on.
Another key thing to mention is whether or not Patrick Mahomes is putting the team in the best position to win when the offense is on the field. He is starting to pick up the pace in terms of efficiency and as a whole, but as time goes on, we will need to have a clear-cut wide receiver one. Especially as we get closer to the playoffs. This will be something to keep an eye on for sure.
While the Chiefs’ receiving core has quite the talent and overall skills to compete at a high level, there is a lot more to being a successful football team in the NFL than simply having one good area of the team. This week is a very favorable matchup for the Chiefs as we are heading down to Jacksonville for an MNF matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. This will be a good game, and the Chiefs are favored to win. A big key in this game will also be the run game and defense, which will be interesting to see how things play out. I really hope the Chiefs can get the win this week. It would be a good momentum boost and a way to improve the record to 3-2, which is obviously much better than 2-2. Let’s hope they show up and play some good football on Monday.
