Eagles 300-Pound Star Defensive Tackle Becomes a Legend

NFL

Jordan Davis, a six-foot-six, 336-pound defensive tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles, is one of the team's strongest players. Drafted in the first round in 2022 by the Eagles, he has already made a name for himself in just three short years of playing in the NFL. Davis has redefined what it means to be a defensive player in terms of speed and strength. Coming off a Super Bowl win this past season, Davis and the Eagles will stop at nothing to continue a winning streak for their 2025-2026 season.

From the first game of the season to the end of Week Three, Davis has set the tone on the type of player he wants to be and what he is going to show throughout the season. With that comes one of Davis’s most electrifying moments in the NFL. During last Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams, the Eagles were up 27-26 with the Rams' kicker Joshua Karty getting ready to kick a 44-yard field goal with three seconds remaining to ensure a win over the Eagles, so they thought. As the Rams snapped the ball, Davis erupted through the defensive lineblocking the kick and running the ball to the Eagles' end zone, leaving both the Rams players and fans stunned beyond words. This play gave the Eagles a 33-26 victory over the Rams.

This wasn’t a normal play in the NFL; this was different. Davis made history. Along with the back-to-back blocks in the fourth quarter, this play sealed the deal for the Eagles’ win over the Rams, with Davis running at a speed of 18.59 mph during the return. Davis was recorded as the fastest player over 330 pounds to ever do this. More than just numbers in this moment, the stadium erupted and had every Eagles fan cheering and jumping for their victory.

As incredible as that play was, it is only the start of what Davis is becoming. With many more weeks to come for Philadelphia, everyone should be excited to see what Davis has in store for the Eagles’ franchise. He has shown week after week the type of player he is. With ten solo tackles so far this season, Davis is a legend in the making. The blocked kick and return against the Rams will stand out for many years to come and will grow Davis’s name. At just the age of 25, there is still a lot of time for Davis to keep dominating on the field and to grow his legacy.
