Fair or Foul? A Four-Time NBA Champion Shares Take On LeBron James' GOAT Status

NBA

Many players and fans alike have different criteria for identifying an NBA Goat. Some prefer to go with longevity, while others opt for the number of NBA Championships a player has won. People have been debating whether LeBron James is the greatest for a while now. Current and past Hall of Fame members and even rookies always share their two cents on it as well. One player who always echoes his support for that narrative is Draymond Green. This time, Green has most likely said the most pathetic or at least ridiculous reason why LeBron is the greatest.

During a stream with popular streamer Kai Cenat, Green was asked about who he thinks is the greatest of all time. While he mentioned Lebron again, which came as no one's surprise. Headlines were made because of the reasoning. "People threw the towel in on JR, and LeBron [is] like 'Nah, this man can shoot and he can defend. I can do sprinting with that.' I don't think MJ had as many guys who went through that," said Green. Besides the apparent contradiction in complimenting Matthew Dellavedova, Michael Jordan had plenty of key players on his team who weren't NBA All-Stars. Ron Harper, Horace Grant, and B.J. Armstrong were streaky shooters for a time, and of course, Steve Kerr and Tony Kukoc. The notion that MJ didn't utilize or have any other key players is laughable. Then it gets worse, as Green says, “Matthew Dellavedova stinks. He'll (Lebron) win with guys like that. To win with guys like that? MJ wasn't winning with Matthew Dellavedova. To make that once again the argument on why James is the greatest and not Jordan is laughable again and pathetic at worst.

Jordan was winning with players a lot less talented than the ones James had on his championship teams. James at one point in Miami, had four Hall of Famers between Dwayne Wade, himself, Chris Bosh, and Ray Allen. Ever since the “Decision” that has plagued James' career, which star is going to be the next one to play with Lebron? If Dyamond wants to make a compelling argument for why James is the GOAT, the next answer he gives better not be as pathetic as this one was.
