First Ever WWE Evolve Champion Has Been Crowned

WWE

Once again, history was made tonight as Jackson Drake defeated Sean Legacy, Keanu Carver, and Edris Enofe in a Fatal Four-Way Elimination Match to become the first-ever WWE Evolve Champion. The championship was introduced three weeks ago by Evolve Prime Minister, Stevie Turner, and now the Leader of the Evolve Men’s Division has been determined. Legacy was the first person to earn a spot in the Fatal Four Way Match, as Turner has been impressed with the performance of the WWE ID recruit since the inception of the Evolve brand. Carver earned his spot by beating Harlem Lewis in a battle of Evolve powerhouses. Drake earned a spot in the match by winning a Triple Threat Qualifying match, and by being one-fifth of the Vanity Project, the Carolina Reaper was on a mission to be the first one to bring championship gold to the group. Enofe, who has recently returned from injury, impressed Turner in his first match back and earned a spot in the match due to his performance in his comeback match. All four men have showcased their skills and shown why they will have a future impact on NXT, however, it is Jackson Drake who has cemented his name in the record books.

As the match started, everybody tried to take out Carver, but the D.C. native used his strength to outmaneuver his opponents. A kick to the head by Drake slowed down Carver. This allowed Enofe, Legacy, and Drake to feel each other out before Carver recovered. Once the 290-pounder did, his brute force was put on display as he quickly dispatched Enofe to score the first elimination in the match. Drake and Legacy had no choice but to team up and try to take down Carver; they tried and failed numerous times, but eventually, they were able to take the big man off his feet, and Legacy was able to hit a 450 splash and with the help of Drake on a double-pin, Carver was eliminated.

Now, it all came down to Legacy and Drake to determine who would be the first WWE Evolve Champion. Both of these competitors did not hold back, and it was near fall after near fall with the WWE Universe erupting into “This is Awesome” chants. Legacy nearly had the submission victory as he caught Drake in an STF, but the Greensboro native made it to the ropes. Drake attacked the throat of Legacy, which led to his downfall. Heartbreak Drake was able to escape the Georgia’s native finisher and hit two superkicks, including one to the throat. Drake hit his finisher, the “Unaliving”, a knee to the side of the head, to secure the monumental win. Drake was the underdog in this match, but now he is the first WWE ID prospect to hold championship gold in the WWE.
