Former 2019 First-Round Pick Wideout Agrees to Deal with the Eagles

NFL

Coming off an up-and-down 2025 season, speedster wide receiver Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown entered free agency as one of the more intriguing options for teams in need of playmaking at receiver. When healthy, Brown has showcased his star talent through quick agility, the ability to blow past defenders, and making explosive plays downfield. Health, however, has limited his impact over the past few seasons, including a collarbone injury that derailed his 2024 campaign and an ankle injury early last season with the Kansas City Chiefs. After much speculation, it has been announced that Brown has agreed to a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles for up to 6.5 million dollars. This deal marks an important moment in Brown’s NFL career as he looks to return to full health and contribute to the Eagles’ success next season.

The Florida native began his NFL career after being selected in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens with the 25th overall pick, teaming up with fellow Florida native and star quarterback Lamar Jackson. During his three seasons in Baltimore, Brown quickly made his mark on the Ravens’ offense, recording 769 receiving yards in his second year and surpassing the 1,000-yard mark in his third, along with a career-high 91 receptions. Despite this success, Brown faced criticism from fans and experts regarding his effort under former offensive coordinator Greg Roman, which contributed to his dissatisfaction with the system and ultimately led to a trade on draft night in 2022 to the Arizona Cardinals. Since then, he has spent two seasons each with Arizona and Kansas City, experiencing highs and lows in his performance.

Last season, the 28-year-old played in 16 games with the Chiefs, recording 587 yards and five touchdowns on 49 receptions. He also tied for the third-most drops on the team, with three, and dealt with a lingering ankle injury that affected his production for much of the year. As Brown prepares for training camp with Philadelphia, he will be looking to start a new chapter in his professional career, focusing on both health and on-field performance. With his addition to the Eagles, Brown has the potential to make a noticeable impact on the team’s success, provided he remains healthy throughout the 2026 season.
