Former Bearcats Superstar Receiver Re-Signs with the Colts

NFL

Alec Pierce, a once coveted basketball and volleyball star, has signed a four-year 116 million dollar deal with the Indianapolis Colts. The former multi-sport athlete star has proven to be the premier deep threat for the Indianapolis Colts and entered free agency as one of the most desired wide receivers on the market. Standing at a towering six-foot-three and 211 pounds, the young physical specimen garnered attention from scouts across the league especially after his first 1000 yard season. Pierce, now entering the prime of his career surely brings a that element of physicality and intensity to the Colts offense.

Coming out of Glenbard West Highschool, Pierce was a three star receiver with elite jumping ability, serving as the primary deep threat for quarterback Desmond Ridder. Pierce would have a breakout season in 2021 as a senior, racking up 52 catches for 884 yards and eight touchdowns. Along with other notable superstars like Sauce Gardner and Desmond Ridder, the Bearcats were able to clinch back to back AAC Champions and a College Football Playoff Championship appearance with many arguing this 2021 team as the greatest Bearcats team of all time. Pierce’s outstanding college career ended with 1851 yards and 13 TDs, averaging 17.5 yards per catch and a declaration for the 2022 NFL Draft.

In the 2022 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts would draft Pierce in the second round as the 53rd overall pick. Pierce would quickly separate himself from his peers with a special rookie season that saw the former Bearcat catch for 593 yards, the most for a Colts rookie since T.Y. Hilton. In 2024, Pierce would lead the entire NFL in yards per catch at 22.3, also finishing with an impressive 824 yards and seven touchdowns. 2025 would be his true breakout season, recording his first 1000 yard season on a minimal 47 receptions. Alec Pierce has cemented his status as the NFL’s premier deep threat, becoming the first player in over fifteen years to record a 1,000 yard season on fewer than 50 receptions. Even with such a performance, the Colt’s transition tag on quarterback Daniel Jones has allowed Pierce to enter the free agency market, with the Colts ultimately signing the wide receiver to a four-year deal worth 116 million dollar deal.
