Former Fourth-Round Receiver Signs With the Cleveland Browns

NFL

On March 18, 2026, it was announced via X that the Cleveland Browns have agreed to a one -year contract with former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver, Tylan Wallace, contract details have not been released yet. Wallace, who had a rough 2025 season in Baltimore, will fight to earn playing time in a receiving corps built of established veteran playmakers and rising young talent hungry for targets. Wallace was primarily used as a special teamer in Baltimore but can play receiver effectively if he is called upon. Through five years in Baltimore, Wallace recorded 22 receptions for 305 yards and two touchdowns, in addition to 20 returns for 382 yards and a touchdown on special teams.

Drafted out of Oklahoma State in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Wallace joined Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown, Rashod Bateman, Sammy Watkins, and Devin Duvernay, catching passes from Lamar Jackson, who had already had one MVP trophy on his resume. Wallace only caught two passes that season for 23 yards, plus two kick returns for 39 yards. In year two, Wallace battled a hamstring injury but still managed four receptions for 33 yards. Wallace’s third year was when he earned a shot and showed a glimpse of potential.

In 2023, Wallace reaggravated his hamstring injury, missing more time, but returned to full strength in November. In a Week 14 game against the Rams, starting return man Duvernay exited the game due to injury, leaving Wallace as the next man up. Wallace returned three punts for 95 yards, including an OT walk-off 76-yard punt-return touchdown to defeat the visiting Rams. Wallace wowed spectators on his first career touchdown, breaking a tackle, stumbling and tip-toeing his way down the sideline, barely avoiding shoestring tackles as he flipped into the end zone, bombarded by teammates, pushing the Ravens to 10-3. While he was a hero in that game, Wallace still struggled to get targets on offense, finishing the season with one catch for 11 yards.

In 2024, Wallace had a career year in terms of receiving, but it still was not enough for Baltimore to extend him on a long-term deal. Wallace finished 2024 with 11 receptions for 193 yards and a touchdown. This includes an 84-yard touchdown on a short pass that resulted in another tip-toe magic trick down the sideline into the endzone, cutting the Bengals’ lead to one point, early in the fourth quarter. The Ravens would go on to come back and win that thrilling matchup on Thursday Night Football, 35-34. With his contract expiring at the end of the 2024 season, the Ravens extended the receiver to a one-year “prove it” deal to see if he could find his way into the endzone more than once in a season, making an impact on the offense consistently.

As the 2025 NFL Season came and went, Wallace failed to haul in five receptions, let alone 10, and only returned the ball on special teams five times for 123 yards. This type of production left the Ravens thinking it was time to move on. Given that Baltimore will need to extend Zay Flowers and has already extended Mark Andrews and Bateman, Wallace did not fit into their overall football plans. While some Ravens fans would’ve liked to see Wallace stay in Baltimore, Wallace, who will be 27 years old in May, will get a shot to make big plays and a lasting impact in Cleveland catching passes from Shedeur Sanders in 2026.
