Four-Time Pro Bowl Running Back Signs with the Texans

NFL

Although the past two seasons haven’t been what running back Nick Chubb has hoped for, he is still arguably one of the fiercest running backs in the league today. In 2023 and 2024, Chubb played a combined 10 games due to a torn MCL, damaged ACL, and then a broken foot. The four-time Pro Bowl running back still has plenty to prove and a ton of gas left in the tank. Even with free agency startihg months ago, Chubb was easily one of the most decorated free agents in the market this off-season. It was reported not too long ago by Ian Rapoport that the 29-year-old running back has agreed to a one deal with the Houston Texans.

During his college career, the 29-year-old running back played with the Georgia Bulldogs. He was the backup to future NFL starting running back Todd Gurley. Chubb was drafted by the Cleveland Browns as the 35th overall pick during the 2018 NFL Draft. He has spent the past seven seasons in Cleveland, helping the team make the playoffs twice in 2020 and 2023. From 2019-2022, he was selected for the Pro Bowl. In each of those four seasons, Chubb rushed for 1000 + yards, showing his grit and tenacity. In 2022, he hit a single-season high of 1,525 rushing yards. As he repairs his legs and gets them healthy for next season, the 29-year-old is still looking to make waves, especially with the Texans.

In eight games last season, Chubb rushed 332 yards on 102 attempts. He also recorded three rushing touchdowns and 31 receiving yards along with a receiving touchdown. Even without Chubb, the Browns had themselves one heck of a rollercoaster of a season. Getting back to another 1,000 + rushing season will be no easy task, however, Chubb is one of the most capable running backs in the league and can surely get back to normal or perhaps stronger by the time next season comes around. With the Texans, the four-time Pro Bowl running back hopes to make it deeper into the playoffs and perhaps appear in Super Bowl 60.
