Four-Time Pro Bowler Expected to Get Benched In Seattle

NFL

In a swift move during the offseason shuffle, Seattle has made some adjustments to its offensive unit, after letting go of both of its heaviest hitters in D.K. Metcalf and Geno Smith, two of the biggest stars of the team’s previous season before this point. They hope to get that similar spark in DeMarcus Lawrence, a four-time Pro Bowler with a $34.5 million contract on the line. According to Pro Football Sports analyst Jacob Infante, another up-and-coming Seahawks player, Derrick Hall, could take the starting spot instead of Lawrence. Lawrence had played for the Dallas Cowboys in his previous years in the NFL. Before eventually sacked and put on the sidelines after just 4 games. He suffered a Lisfranc injury in 2024, before eventually leaving Dallas and moving to Seattle not long after that.

As per NFL.com, Lawrence explained, “A change of scenery is always nice, but Dallas is my home. Made my home there, my family lives there…I’m forever gonna be there, but I know for sure I’m not gonna win a Super Bowl there, so yeah…we here.” It seems Lawrence has confidence that he will be able to fit right into the team now that he’s joined the nest of Seahawks over in Seattle. Yet, we can only hope to see where this leads in the upcoming season. Seattle Sports’ Brock Huard believes that the front offices in Seattle could benefit from a late addition in the position itself.

Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald had some words to say on Lawrence as well. “I think he complements our room very well….He can play the way we want technique-wise, but this guy is smart about what sets tell you. What blocks am I going to get, being able to create negative plays on early downs to get us in some of those advantageous defensive situations that are going to help us.” Macdonald commented per Pro Football Talk. “Then obviously the pass rush element, complementing Chenna Nwosu and Boye Mafe, all those guys. Moving him up and down the line like we do, we like to shuffle guys around, so he fits right in.” Even the coach has some promising words for Lawrence’s future in Seattle. Whether it is a long-term or a short-term run. There seems to be a positive sense of hope in the Seahawks lineup for now.
