From Tag Gold to Singles Glory: Why a Former TBS Champion Should Win the WWE Women's Championship

WWE

Since she made her WWE debut in the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble match, Jade Cargill has been presented as a future star of the WWE Women’s Division. The former TBS Champion came from All Elite Wrestling and was immediately moved to the main roster when she signed with the WWE. This shows that the Worldwide Leader in Sports Entertainment had faith in her training and potential, and that they believed that she did not need time in NXT to develop. The powerhouse star is a two-time Women’s Tag Team Champion and recently turned heel on the October 24th episode of SmackDown. They say everybody loves to play the bad guy, and Cargill has a mean streak that, if used correctly, she could be one of the most dangerous superstars on the roster. She has not been a heel since her time in AEW, but now she gets to show a different side of herself that the WWE Universe has not seen before. At Saturday Night’s Main Event, on November 1st, Cargill has to defeat Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women’s Championship because now is the time to see what she is really made of.

Stratton has been the Women’s Champion since the first SmackDown of 2025 in January. She has had a fantastic run, nearly ending the year undefeated and beating some of the top stars in the industry. This includes Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania and Cargill at SummerSlam. The Minnesota native has held the title for over 200 days, and her first run as champion was done well, as the company capitalized on her popularity and put her over to make her a star. Now, it’s time for the company to do the same for Cargill. She might not be as popular as Stratton, but the WWE signed her because they saw the potential in her, and it is now time to see if they are right.

The Gifford, FL native’s time is approaching, and as a heel now, she can win by pure dominance and by nefarious ways. She has already injured the former NXT Women's Champion’s knee, which will no doubt play a role in their match on Saturday. Once the 2025 Queen of the Ring becomes champion, matchups against babyfaces such as Flair, Alexa Bliss, Michin, and a returning Bianca Belair, which should be a WrestleMania match in my opinion, are on the horizon. Right now, the WWE does not have a world champion who is a heel. Putting the title on the former TBS Champion will bring fresh, new energy to the main event picture on SmackDown. Having a bad guy for the babyfaces to chase is a tale told as old as time, but it works, and this will give the WWE the chance to elevate Cargill to a different stratosphere by having her go over some of the biggest stars on the women’s roster. In her entrance song, Cargill announces that “a storm is coming.” Now the 33-year-old, who is referred to as “The Storm,” will use her chaotic force to dominate her opponents in the ring and show the WWE Universe a different side of herself. If done well, then the WWE will have another superstar on its hands.
