Get Ready for Saturday Night's Main Event: What to Expect

WWE

This Saturday, the WWE will present the 39th edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event from the Yuengling Center in Tampa, FL. This will be the third edition of SNME this year after the WWE and NBC agreed to revive the series, with the World Wide Leader in Sports Entertainment agreeing to produce four prime-time specials a year for NBC per year for the length of their agreement. This edition will feature Jey Uso defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Logan Paul in the main event. R-Truth will face his childhood hero, the WWE Champion John Cena, and many personal rivalries will either end or continue based on the results of what happens in Tampa.

Jey Uso vs Logan Paul- World Heavyweight Championship Match

Jey Uso is on top of the world right now. After defeating Gunther at WrestleMania to become the World Heavyweight Champion, the Leader of the Yeet Nation's momentum and popularity have continued to soar. Looking to halt that momentum is the brash, cocky challenger, Logan Paul. Paul has been impressive in the ring despite having limited wrestling experience. However, due to his following, he has been impressive in making things go viral. Paul does not see Uso as championship material and as a guy who just has a popular catchphrase. Both of these competitors have knocked out their opponents in the ring, with Paul getting the last laugh on the May 19th episode of Raw. Now, these two will square off at SNME, where they both have the opportunity to prove the other one wrong. Will Uso retain his championship or will Paul get the biggest win of his young career? Remember the winner of this match will have to face the Ring General on the June 9th episode of Raw.

John Cena vs R-Truth

After defeating his long-time rival at Backlash, with the help of R-Truth, John Cena will now face one of his biggest fans at SNME. R-Truth has jokingly claimed that Cena is his childhood hero, a running gag that the WWE Universe has found to be continuously funny. The Charlotte native helped Cena at Backlash by stepping in the way before Randy Orton was going to punk kick Cena’s head off his shoulders. Truth took an RKO and Cena took advantage of the distraction to secure the win. So, why are these two fighting then? During the Backlash post-show press conference, Truth interrupted Cena and said that he will always have his back even if people said that he sucks and can’t wrestle. This comment sent Cena over the edge and he AA’d Truth through the table. The clip went viral on social media and R-Truth addressed this in an interview on SmackDown. Truth claimed that the man who sent him through that table was not the same John Cena that he enjoyed watching as a fan. Now, Truth will look to deliver an Attitude Adjustment to Cena and deliver some payback on the Leader of Cenation. Look for R-Truth to perform Cena’s moves on him in a moment that the crowd will love. However, look for the 17-time Champion to make easy work of Truth afterward in his final time in Tampa.

CM Punk and Sami Zayn vs Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker

Ever since the ending of Night One of WrestleMania, the Raw brand has revolved around the new group of Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, and Paul Heyman. This new group is a mix of the past, present, and future of wrestling and is a group looking to establish a new era in professional wrestling. Rollins wants to push the industry forward and take out potential threats. Speaking of those threats enter CM Punk and Sami Zayn, who both have issues with this new alliance and what they stand for. Punk and Rollins have had problems with each other since the Second City Saint returned to the WWE at the 2023 Survivor Series. Zayn has had his issues with Breakker in the past, but he was not expecting his friend Rollins to try and take him out. All this tension has boiled over and a tag team match was set up for SNME. The new alliance of Rollins and Breakker will look to take care of their problems in one match. Punk and Zayn will look to coexist on one night to take care of both Rollins and Breakker.

Drew McIntyre vs Damian Priest- Steel Cage Match

A rivalry that started in January at the Royal Rumble will look to reach its epic conclusion in Tampa. Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest cannot move on to other things until they take care of each other. Priest eliminated McIntyre in the Royal Rumble and the Elimination Chamber. McIntyre got his revenge by defeating Priest in a Sin City Street Fight at WrestleMania. McIntyre thought that was the end of the rivalry until Priest cost him an opportunity to have a one-on-one match for the United States Championship at Backlash. At that event, Priest and McIntyre competed in a Fatal Four-Way Match for the U.S. title but focused on taking each other out at one point. Now, this rivalry is set to reach its end no matter who wins, both competitors will look to move on after this. A win for McIntyre will allow him to move on to the main event scene and compete for the WWE Championship. Priest will most likely move into the midcard scene and challenge for the United States Championship once again.
