Giants Find a Way to Win, but Offensive Concerns Remain in 2026
The New York Giants took on the Tennessee Titans and won in Week Three. The final score was 12-7. Big Blue’s record improved to 2-1, and they are rising in their division. The offensive line that took the field Sunday was completely different. That's because Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is out with an injury, and the team needed another leader. The offensive line that arrived on the field has been completely different with Jameis Winston.
The Giants did not throw the ball as much during this game. Wind and rain battered the field all game, forcing New York to abandon much of its carefully scripted attack. Big Blue leaned heavily on the run game, led by Cam Skattebo and Najaee Harris. The team's running back was given the biggest workload. He carried the ball 22 times for 60 yards. Skattebo set up the team's first scoring opportunity with a 30-yard reception on third down.
However, each time the team entered the Red Zone, the drive stalled, and the Giants could score only with kicker Dominic Zvada. Big Blue is thrilled about every game he has played so far. The undrafted rookie connected from 39, 27, 39, and 30 yards, improving to six-for-six on field-goal attempts in his NFL debut. In his last three games, he has connected on every drive that he has been put in for. His consistency has helped the Giants build advantages even without scoring a touchdown.
On the other hand, Winston struggled to make a lot of ends meet through the air, but the right calls got the ball into the end zone for the kicker. The veteran quarterback did the best he could. There were points when he had to run the field because he couldn’t get the ball out in time. Winston is more of a classic quarterback. That makes this offensive line so different from what it is with Dart. Winston tends to hold the ball a beat longer, while the second-year quarterback delivers with a quicker trigger.
The veteran signal-caller doesn’t need to replicate every element of the rookie’s dynamic presence. However, New York will eventually need more production through the air and more successful drives to finish. They have the pieces to start the drive; now it’s just a matter of figuring out how to get it into the end zone with the backup quarterback and the rest of the offensive line. It’ll take time to work on, and Winston definitely has his work cut out for him in the coming week. The Giants take on the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, October 4th at 1:00 p.m. EDT.
