Giants Head to the Desert for Last Time in 2025 Regular Season

MLB

Both teams are still alive. In between the two series against the Dodgers, the Giants will be in Arizona for a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field from September 15th through 17th. It will be their last visit of the regular season. Though the two Dodgers series loom large for many reasons, this one is not to be taken lightly either.

Both teams are evenly matched. For the season, the Giants own an even 37-37 road record. The Diamondbacks have a 38-34 record at home. At times, the Giants have been a better team on the road than at home. Yet the last time these two teams met at Chase Field in late June and early July, they split the series. Earlier this week at Oracle Park, the Giants won the series by taking the first two games, but dropping the last one as the offense only woke up in the late innings. At the end of that series, the Giants were 74-72 and the Diamondbacks were 73-74, respectively.

Both teams are in the race, despite the little time remaining in the season. They, along with the Cincinnati Reds, have a chance to knock off the New York Mets. If more chips fall in their favor, these three teams could even give the San Diego Padres a run for their money. However, at this point in the season, they simply must focus on winning as many games as possible and hope the teams in front make mistakes.

Neither team is the most high-powered offensively, so pitching will be vital. For the Giants, Robbie Ray will face off against his old team one more time, while Carson Seymour will have a chance to make some adjustments and redeem himself from his last start. Though the Giants were able to figure out Zac Gallen last time, a challenge awaits them in the form of left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez in the second game. The finale of the series will be an afternoon game between Justin Verlander and Brandon Pfaadt before the Giants fly to Los Angeles to play the Dodgers, and the Diamondbacks welcome the Philadelphia Phillies for a three-game series.
