How Did Bo Nix Perform during Week One?

NFL

The Denver Broncos would take down the Tennessee Titans 20-12 in their Week One opener at home. It would be a close matchup, but ultimately the Broncos would find a way to win and begin the 2025-26 season 1-0. There were many standouts throughout the game for Denver, especially with the rushing attack, with J.K. Dobbins rushing for 63 yards and one touchdown, and RJ Harvey rushing for 70 yards. The man who would have the most interesting day, however, was quarterback Bo Nix, who begins his sophomore season in the NFL.

Nix would throw for 176 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. He would complete 25 of 40 passes, which would earn him a 62.5 completion percentage. It wasn’t the young quarterback’s cleanest performance, as he would also have a lost fumble alongside the two interceptions. This would only be Nix’s third career fumble, a problem the Broncos will hope to continue not to worry about and not expect to become an issue this season. Under a clean pocket, Nix would look comfortable and exactly like where he left off last season. He was able to target wide receiver Courtland Sutton six times for 61 yards and a touchdown, proving to be a reliable target moving forward this season. When the pocket would collapse, however, Nix would look frantic and more like a rookie quarterback.

In next week’s game against the Indianapolis Colts, the Broncos’ offensive line will need to continue to protect Nix. They would only allow one sack, but with pressure getting to Nix and affecting his ability to throw, it would be the key difference in the results of the game against the Colts next week. The rushing attack was also another bright spot in the offense of the Broncos this week, an important factor they hope to carry forward the rest of the season. With Dobbins and Harvey being able to become a potential running back tandem, it would continue to make Nix’s job much easier and less stressful on the passing game. It was a good Week One for the Broncos, with plenty of things to clean up from the play of the quarterback to continue the winning
