Is It Time to Panic in Arizona?
The Cardinals have two wins and three losses, which may not sound that bad on the surface; however, it is not something to be proud of. Yesterday, they lost to the winless Tennessee Titans, putting them now at the bottom of their division. They need to find a way to win games. If they don’t, the season will be over by the middle of the season.
The Cardinals have lost three straight games, including two against their division rivals, the Seahawks and the 49ers. This is their third straight loss overall and the third straight by losing by a field goal on the final play of the game. To say that the Cardinals have been playing bad football would be a massive understatement. Against the Titans in a game that they should have won, there were two major mistakes. The first one was by Emari Demarcado when he let go of the ball before he reached the goal line. He did not have it stripped; he chose to let go of it at the 1-yard line, thinking he had already scored. This resulted in a touchback for the Titans. The other was when a Cardinals player intercepted the football, then immediately fumbled the ball. Mistakes like this can not happen. Good teams do not make mistakes like this!
Is it Time to Panic?
Is it time to panic? Yes, it absolutely is. The Cardinals are a much more talented team than the Titans, and they still managed to lose the game. The biggest thing they need to focus on going forward is winning divisional games. If they can not win divisional games, they will probably not even make the playoffs. They are playing as talented individuals right now instead of a collective team. The offense needs to stop making costly mistakes, whether that is drops or fumbles. If they can’t stop making these mistakes, then they will not make the playoffs! There is no question that the Cardinals need to beat divisional rivals, but they have absolutely no momentum going forward. They will need to create momentum by eliminating costly mistakes.
