Is “The Revolution” Ready to Join the Main Roster?
At NXT Deadline 2025, Ricky Saints defended his NXT Championship against Oba Femi in the opening bout. Although Saints did everything to retain his title, he was no match for Femi as “The Ruler of NXT” regained his crown once again, putting him atop of the NXT food chain. Saints would offer a congratulatory handshake to Femi before exiting the ring. Saints has made quite a name for himself since arriving in NXT in early 2025, winning two singles titles in the process. Now that Saints is no longer NXT Champion, is a call-up to the main roster the next step in his career?
When Saints was released from his AEW contract, it was only a matter of time before he would make his way over to WWE. There were expectations that Saints could possibly replicate the same success that other former AEW wrestlers had when they made the move over to WWE, such as Cody Rhodes, Jade Cargill, and Ethan Page. Saints made his arrival to NXT in February 2025 and had an immediate impact, winning the NXT North American Championship less than two months later. After losing the title, Saints made his intentions known that he wanted the NXT Championship. At No Mercy 2025, Saints would achieve his goal of becoming the NXT Champion by defeating Femi. Now that he has dropped the title to the man, he took it from. Saints really does not have anything else left to prove in the Silver and Black brand.
Saints is someone who could immediately fall into place in the midcard division, whether it’s competing for the United States Championship on SmackDown or challenging for the Intercontinental Championship on RAW. Saints has everything a certified “superstar” should have, from the entrance to the charisma on the microphone. Also, one of the Saints’ best matches in AEW involved a current world champion: “The Best in the World” CM Punk. Saints challenged Punk during AEW’s Owen Hart Cup in a thrilling match where Punk took the victory. Saints could easily rekindle that rivalry on the main roster and even make a push for the world title upon his arrival. Another superstar that Saints has a history with is Rhodes. “The American Nightmare” shares a strong friendship with Saints and was a major factor in Saints' making the jump to WWE. Pairing them up in a tag team or putting them across the ring from each other could make for great storytelling. Finally, Saints has shown that he is more than willing to sacrifice life and limb inside the ring, as seen in his Strap Match against Bryan Danielson at AEW All Out 2023.
WWE could ultimately decide to keep Saints in NXT and allow him to continue to develop before eventually calling him up to the main roster. However, the WWE Universe has to wait, the wait will be worth it once Saints make their presence known. “The Revolution” will soon become a household name, and it will be interesting to see how fast the rocket gets strapped on Saints to soar his way into the main event scene. However long it takes, Saints will deliver inside and outside the squared circle.
