Is Time Running Out for a Giants 24-Year-Old Receiver in 2026?
When the New York Giants took Jalin Hyatt as their third-round pick in 2023, a lot of expectation was surrounding him. Coming off a stellar season at Tennessee, where he won the Belinticoff Award for the nation's best receiver. He had crazy speed, game-changing agility, and the ability to play a key role in an NFL offense. Three years down the line, Hyatt will go into 2026 being a possible cut candidate for the G-Men.
Hyatt is only 24 years old and has traits that have made him one of the most feared college receivers in the past decade. When Hyatt transitioned to the NFL, the feared receiver he once seemed to be was lost. Over the last three years in the NFL, Hyatt has struggled tremendously to get open and to catch passes. Every year, it seems it's his chance to break out, and it still has yet to happen. So the question has begun to float into fans and coaches minds alike. Is time running out for this Giants 24-year-old receiver?
Targets will be tough to come by if he can make it out of this offseason alive. Malik Nabers is still the number one guy on this roster, and new additions like Darnell Mooney and Calvin Austin will likely diminish his role. We can't forget about rookie Malachi Fields, who will also come into the mix. Which means Hyatt may be fighting for more than just targets, maybe even his spot on the Giants altogether.
Hyatt's stats are very sad throughout his career so far. In three NFL seasons, the 24-year-old has compiled only 470 yards receiving and no touchdowns. Not to mention, when he is on the field, he has struggled to get open. The young wide receivers’ blazing speed, quick change of direction, and one-of-a-kind deep threat ability are unmatched. If Hyatt can make it out of the offseason alive, he's gonna have to make impact plays with his lessened snaps if he wants to be a part of this team. For now, the door is still open for Hyatt, but for how long will fans and coaches wait?
