Jaguars Third-Year Receiver Is Making Some Noise at Camp
Heading into the 2025 NFL season, the Jacksonville Jaguars’ wide receiver room has improved heavily from the injury-riddled 2024 team. The unit is led by Pro Bowler Brian Thomas Jr. and first overall pick Travis Hunter, as well as the Jaguars going out and signing Dyami Brown in free agency from Washington. Outside of the top three on the depth chart, the rest of the receivers will be fighting for playing time heading into the campaign. However, one name has been mentioned heavily as training camp gets underway in Jacksonville. Who’s the player, you may ask? That being the third-year wideout out of Penn State in Parker Washington.
The five-foot-10 receiver from Sugar Land, Texas, has made what many are considering a fast start to the Jaguars camp. Washington has been praised for working on and improving his release from the line, making himself a name poised to have an impact on the new offense led by first-year head coach Liam Coen. On day three of Jaguars camp, Parker Washington was praised for making what many called the catch of the day and continuing his mounting momentum in elevating his game to the next level. Washington has also been considered the Jaguars’ primary kick returner after the departure of Christian Kirk.
The hot start to Parker Washington’s performance at Jaguars camp has not just caught the attention of fans. Head coach Liam Coen has praised Washington and is pleased with his performance so far, believing that he is making the most of his opportunities. Washington will look to become a key force in Coen’s offense by continuing to work on attacking the second and third levels of the defense, in addition to his release. If done well, Washington could challenge Dyami Brown for the third spot on the depth chart.
In 2024, Parker Washington appeared in all 17 games. Washington ended the campaign with 32 receptions for 390 yards and three touchdowns. Washington was also a return specialist, returning six punts for 144 yards and a touchdown, as well as returning five kickoffs for 122 yards. As training camp continues, it will be all eyes on Parker Washington as the third-year veteran hopes to continue this blazing hot start.
