John Cena’s Final Match Set to Happen in Boston

WWE

It has been officially confirmed that the Undisputed WWE Champion, John Cena, will have his final professional wrestling match this December in his hometown of Boston, Massachusetts. The news was announced by WCVB, which stated that Cena is currently on a retirement tour, and this is not just a storyline; it is the real deal. His 25-year professional wrestling career will come to an end at the TD Garden, a venue that holds a special place in the hearts of Boston sports and wrestling fans alike. While the exact name of the Premium Live Event has not been revealed yet, there are rumors that it might be called “Ruthless Aggression,” an homage to Cena's debut match against Kurt Angle and a period that defined his early career.

Cena recently had his first title defense against old rival Randy Orton at Backlash, in what is supposed to be their last encounter. The match took place in Orton’s hometown of St. Louis, Missouri, and was filled with chaos, such as referees getting knocked out, tables being broken, and weapons being used. Orton even hit SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis with an RKO again, adding to the chaos. R-Truth also interrupted, stopping Orton from delivering his patented Punt Kick to Cena. The news broke almost immediately after the show ended, and although it may not have been the way WWE planned to announce Cena’s retirement, fans on social media are still excited.

Currently, Cena has about 25 dates remaining on his retirement tour, and fans are eager to see him face off against some of their favorite superstars one last time. Names like CM Punk, AJ Styles, or even Rey Mysterio. There is also speculation about first-time matchups with stars like Logan Paul, LA Knight, or Dominik Mysterio. Cena made it clear on the Raw after Mania that even a simple appearance or promo can count as one of his remaining dates. With 33 weeks left in 2025, he will likely spread out these appearances, culminating in what promises to be a historic night in Boston. Fans all around the world, especially Bostonians and New Englanders, are gearing up for the night when The GOAT, John Cena, will hang up his jorts for good, leaving a lasting legacy in the world of professional wrestling.
