Latest Lessons Learned from Giants Loss Against the Saints

NFL

The New York Football Giants had a rough game today. They had a great week last week when their rookie quarterback, Jaxson Dart, made his debut after the Giants decided to bench veteran Russell Wilson. In today's game, the Giants took on the New Orleans Saints. This game initially held great promise. However, it ultimately backfired on the Giants in the end. Here are the top three game takeaways from this game.

1. Turnovers That Shouldn’t Have Happened

The Giants gave away the ball to the Saints five times today. It was very unhealthy to see this come from the Giants. Dart threw two interceptions, and the ball was fumbled by the Giants on several occasions, which were recovered by New Orleans. The worst part of this was when the ball was intercepted and returned for an 87-yard touchdown. Everything that the Giants had started to repair within the last two weeks was gone entirely, and they let many of their fans down by allowing all of this to occur during the second half of the game.

2. Pass Rushing and Pressure Were Nonexistent

The Giants did not bring the pressure to today's game, and it showed. Out of the entire game, they were only able to sack New Orleans quarterback Spencer Rattler once. When the Giants tried to make the stops, the Saints always found a way to get through or around them. The defensive line could not come together to block anyone effectively. They allowed them to score on nearly every drive. It made it worse for them because they are a solid offensive team, but they just were not able to pull it together to put a stop to it at specific points.

3. The Rookie Quarterback Troubles Surface

Dart really struggled during today's game, and it was clear how much this offensive line is working. He threw two interceptions and fumbled the ball at least once, so the Saints could take it away. This young quarterback felt a great deal of pressure while trying to accomplish his goals on the field. He also could not find an open guy to get the ball to. At points, he himself was running to try to protect the ball. Dart was also trying to make a long ball pass, but each time he did, it slipped out of his receiver's hand or was intercepted by the Saints. The Giants have more work cut out with them this coming week.
