Looking at the Rest of the New York Giants 2025 Season

NFL

The New York Football Giants’ season is officially done. After their Week 12 loss against the Detroit Lions, the Giants have fallen further to 2-10, marking them as one of the worst teams in the NFL. This loss also officially eliminates the Giants from playoff contention. The last time the Giants appeared in the playoffs was back in 2022, when former quarterback Daniel Jones was still at the helm.

New York now sits in position to have the second overall draft pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. There is a chance that they may not stay there for the rest of the season. They have five more games to play and a bye in between. These include matchups with the New England Patriots, Washington Commanders, Minnesota Vikings, Las Vegas Raiders, and the Dallas Cowboys. It will be enough time to make or break where they land in the draft towards the end of the season. They have had changes all season, including the losses of wide receiver Malik Nabers, running back Cam Skattebo, and rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, all of whom went out with injuries. Shortly after all of these occurred, the Giants fired head coach Brian Daboll.

They are a strong team, but they are still struggling. With veteran Jameis Winston stepping in, he has done a great job of keeping the hype for Big Blue alive despite the losses in the games he has started. Winston always has great plans for making the plays happen. In Sunday’s game, he had a quick trick against the Lions. This will continue for the rest of the season, for New York will have him in place until Dart can play again.

The team already looks better on paper, but they can't find a way to win their games. Dart will hopefully be able to play towards the end of the season. However, it won't make a difference in where they land in the league, but it will in this year's draft. Next year will also be better because the Giants’ official trio will be back and better than ever. The Giants will also have someone in their head coaching role who can get them where they need to be. Until then, Big Blue will continue its streak of losses and changes, hoping to find the perfect fit for this team.
