Potential Trade Deadline Targets for the Seahawks

NFL

Sitting at 5-2 with the trade deadline 10 days away, the Seahawks could potentially make some moves to bolster their squad as they fight for the top of the NFC West. Seattle has been rumored to be shopping Riq Woolen, who has become expendable thanks to the play of the Seahawks’ other cornerbacks. While Woolen could potentially be shipped out, the Seahawks should be buyers at this year's deadline. This is Seattle’s best team in years, and a trade addition could help them carry their momentum through the rest of the year.

The Cleveland Browns sit at 2-5 with no hope of turning their season around. Plagued by their never-ending QB nightmare, the roster still has plenty of talent. Cleveland could look to continue their near-constant rebuild by moving some of that talent. Seattle should check on the availability of guards Wyatt Teller and Joel Bitonio. Seattle needs help at the guard position, with Anthony Bradford struggling heavily this season. Both Teller and Bitonio are multi-time Pro-Bowlers who could provide immediate help in the trenches.

The New Orleans Saints are an abysmal 1-6 and once again are going to have issues with the salary cap in the offseason. If the Saints are open to moving their young talent, the Seahawks should inquire about wide receiver Chris Olave. This would reunite Olave with his college teammate Jaxon Smith-Njigba and provide Sam Darnold with another high-powered weapon. Outside of Smith-Njiba and Cooper Kupp, Seattle’s WR room is shaky, so Olave would provide much-needed depth. If New Orleans is very open to moving young players, the Seahawks should also check the market on Trevor Penning. After a rough start to his career at tackle, Penning has moved to the inside of the line and could potentially help Seattle address the issue at guard.

While the Raiders have said they will not be trading Maxx Crosby, Seattle should at least throw an offer. The team's defense is mediocre, and Geno Smith is definitely not the QB of the future. A rebuild is on the horizon for the Raiders, and this trade could help kickstart it. Las Vegas could benefit heavily from a return package of several picks and players, and Seattle’s pass rush with the addition of Crosby, would be absolutely terrifying for opposing offenses.
