Power Couples Collide: Who Will Emerge Victorious at WrestlePalooza?
In pop culture, fans all over the world gush over celebrity power couples. Well, the WWE is filled with a few power couples of its own, and two of them are set to face each other at WrestlePalooza. On September 20th, CM Punk and AJ Lee will face off against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch. A feud that started as a personal clash between Rollins and Punk has now gotten more personal because their wives are now involved. This huge clash is filled with hatred and animosity, and now it will all come to a head in Indianapolis. The only question that remains is who will leave WrestlePalooza victorious?
Punk and Rollins have been battling each other since the Voice of the Voiceless returned to the WWE in November of 2023. This feud has stretched out for the better part of a year, and both superstars have delivered classic matches, such as the main event of the first Raw on Netflix, and memorable moments such as Rollins cashing in his Money in the Bank contract on Punk at SummerSlam. In a quest to regain the World Heavyweight Championship, Punk has to deal with Rollins' new faction, “The Vision,” who see themselves as the standard on Monday Night Raw. The two-time WWE Champion looked like he had the World Heavyweight Championship won at Clash in Paris until Lynch came out of nowhere, disguised, and hit Punk with a low blow to help her husband retain his title. Ever the good wife, Lynch has defended her actions against Punk and even went so far as to slap him in the face and berate him at every turn and corner. The Chicago native, being the gentleman that he is, cannot put his hands on a woman, but his wife, AJ Lee, can.
Lee, who is making her return to the ring after being retired for over a decade, made her return on the September 5th episode of SmackDown to an energetic Chicago crowd. The former Divas Champion returned and immediately went after Lynch, leaving the Irish superstar shocked and confused, and left with a shiner on her right eye, as seen on the September 8th episode of Raw, and without her Intercontinental Championship. Lee went on to goad Rollins into a mixed tag team match as the Visionary tried to retrieve his wife’s championship back on the aforementioned episode of Raw. Now, with the match being set, two of WWE’s most popular couples are ready to go to war to finally put out all their anger and aggression towards each other in what is sure to be one of the most contested matches on the card. The WWE has given us another chapter in the Rollins and Punk rivalry, and now, with the involvement of their wives, fans will be on the edge of their seats to see who will win this personal clash and where the story will go next.
