Ranking Luka Doncic’s Top Three Games as a Laker

NBA

Ever since being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, Luka Doncic has not missed a beat when it comes to big games. Doncic isn’t a stranger to big games either, scoring a career-high 73 points when he was with the Mavericks last year. That game had Doncic mentioned in the MVP conversation last season, helping the Mavs through a rough stretch. Since then, he has had his career highlight games as a Laker, with the first being against his former team.

April 9th, 2025: Los Angeles Lakers vs Dallas Mavericks

In the much-anticipated game since being traded, Doncic faced his former team, the Dallas Mavericks, in one of the last games of the regular season. Many former NBA players and analysts thought Doncic would struggle and be too nervous to perform at a high level in his first game back. With the number three seed in the Western Conference on the line, Doncic knew what had to be done. He scored 45 points, eight rebounds, and six assists, scoring 31 of his 45 points in the first half of the game. The camera panned to Mavericks owner Nico Harrison multiple times throughout the game as Doncic tormented the Mavs until the final buzzer. In the end, the Lakers defeated the Mavs, as the main player, Doncic, was traded for Anthony Davis, who had only 13 points in that game.

April 11th, 2025, Houston Rockets vs Los Angeles Lakers

In another big game with playoff implications, Luka had another high-scoring game. He scored 39 points in 31 minutes of playing time to secure a win and the number three seed in the West for the Lakers. Not only Doncic's scoring but also his field goal percentage stood out in this game. Shooting 13-19 from the field and five for nine from the three-point line. The Rockets rested most of their players, but Luka's dominant performance shows why he is a superstar.

March 13th, 2025, Los Angeles Lakers vs Milwaukee Bucks

Tied with his highest scoring game in his return game to Dallas. What separated the Bucks game from the Mavs game was that the Lakers lost big in this game. It was a 20-point loss for the Lakers. However, this game stands out and made the list because it was the first time we saw Luka against a contending team without LeBron James. This game saw Doncic again go for 45 points, showing the Lakers and reminding the world why he is that good. Also, it was the first indication that this would be his team going forward.
