SoCal Showdown: Who Will Win a Pivotal World Series Game Three?
In the cool autumn air, we are officially in the heat of the Fall Classic. With the series knotted up at one a piece, we head from brisk Toronto, Canada, to sunny southern California. Game Three takes place in Chavez Ravine at historic Dodger Stadium. It will be held on Monday at 8:00 p.m. EST, and toeing the rubber for the surging Blue Jays is 41-year-old veteran Max Scherzer.
The three-time Cy Young Award Winner, Mad Max, is an established postseason performer. With over 26 starts and 148 innings under his belt. This experience includes two World Series rings. With only one start this postseason, he allowed two runs on three hits over 5.2 innings. Scherzer, with his bulldog mentality, has the potential to turn back the clock one more time; he could tilt the series back in Toronto’s favor.
On the mound for the Dodgers is Tyler Glasnow. Who, despite not being the number one on this staff, has ace-like stuff. Prior to this year, his postseason record has been a bit of a mixed bag. However, in two starts and three total appearances, he’s pitched 13.1 innings, struck out 18, and allowed only one run. His fastball and slider combo will look to keep the Blue Jays’ lineup neutralized and help the Dodgers go up two to one in the series.
Aside from the pitching matchup, another key storyline is the home-field advantage. Dodger Stadium is the biggest arena in Major League Baseball, holding 56 thousand fans. For a Blue Jay team traveling cross-country, this could be a difficult environment to perform. With a lineup that has been streaky at times, this shock to the system could be good or bad.
This Blue Jays offense might be the key not only to game three, but the series. As combined in the first two games, they have scored 12 runs. With 11 of them coming in a game one explosion. The Dodgers’ strength this postseason, despite having a deep lineup, has been their starting rotation. If the Blue Jays’ offense can get them out to an early lead, they just might have a chance to steal a game on the road. If Glasnow has a strong game, it’s going to be tough for the Blue Jays to overcome, paving the way for the Dodgers to take a 2-1 lead in the series.
