Teammates Believe Their New QB is Making the Steelers a Better Team
Everyone knows about the Aaron Rodgers-Steelers saga. After months of speculation, the veteran quarterback finally signed a one-year contract with the Steelers on June 5th. Throughout this offseason, Rodgers has been building chemistry with his teammates. He’s been mentoring his teammates and giving them advice. His knowledge and experience have been valuable for the Steelers. Rodgers’ teammates genuinely appreciate what he brings to the franchise. They believe that he’s helped them become a better team.
Steelers wide receiver Ben Skowronek appeared on the 102.5 WDVE Morning Show during training camp. He discussed Rodgers, remarking, “I just think we’re laser focused. We’re locked in and we’re confident. When you have a guy like that under center who’s a four-time MVP… he’s a genius on the field.” Skowronek continued, “There’s just a certain level of confidence that he has that, I think, radiates throughout the team because we know we got a dude back there. Yeah, he is 40-whatever years old, but he can still sling that thing, and he has been great in the meeting room.”
Steelers safety DeShon Elliott spoke about Rodgers during an appearance on the “Not Just Football with Cam Heyward” podcast last week. He said, “I’m excited to see what he does for us. I’ve never seen somebody manipulate a defense the way he manipulates a defense. The look-offs, the ball placement, the cadence. He’s different. He’s making us better. I know for a fact we’re gonna be a better defense because of him.” In a video posted on the Steelers' official website on August 27th, tight end Jonnu Smith, wide receiver Scotty Miller, and offensive tackle Troy Fautanu spoke to the media. Speaking about Rodgers, Smith said, “He’s gonna go ahead and get his gold jacket whenever that time comes…This guy’s been in training camp for 20 years. The knowledge that he has, the things that he’s saw. He saw everything. He’s got all the answers to the test.”
Rodgers led the Green Bay Packers to victory in Super Bowl XLV. He was even named MVP of the game. Rodgers has undoubtedly cemented his future as a Hall of Famer. Even at 41 years old, his arm still looks strong. He still has a sharp mind, too. Rodgers’ knowledge is an asset to the Steelers. Hopefully, Rodgers can help the Steelers finally win a playoff game.
