Tennessee Titans Starting Quarterback Out for Season

NFL

The Tennessee Titans announced today that their starting quarterback, Will Levis, will undergo season-ending surgery on his right shoulder. This comes from an injury that was sustained during Week Four in 2024, when the Titans took on the Miami Dolphins. Levis suffered a second-grade AC joint sprain.  He managed to play for the rest of the season, but found that the shoulder was aggressively getting worse. Levis briefly participated in OTAs and mini-camps, but struggled. The procedure is scheduled for Tuesday, July 29th, the first day of the league's training camps.

Levis was the Titans' 2023 second-round pick in the NFL Draft. He has showcased everything he can do during the past two seasons he has played in the NFL. He’s considered to be one of the more flashy players and is a dual threat for the team. He has an incredible rushing ability, and he threw a 98-yard touchdown pass. His completion percentage went up in his second year; however, he has seen a lot of turnovers. He has a career pass rating of 82.7. Levis is full of raw talent, but the consistency and the ball security are areas of improvement.

The Titans expressed full support for Will Levis' decision, emphasizing that his long-term health and his career development are their top priorities for him. The team's head coach, Brian Callahan, noted that Levis has shown great leadership both on and off the field. The organization has praised him for how he has played for the team in the last two years. The Titans acknowledged that this news is disappointing, but they remain optimistic about his full recovery and his future potential for next season. The team wants to keep him involved as much as possible and use this year as a development opportunity.

That said, the Titans will turn to their other QBs on their depth chart for this season. They have their brand new 2025 first-round Draft Pick, Cam Ward, who will be the starting quarterback for this season. The Titans will also work with both of their backup quarterbacks, Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle, whom they picked up earlier in the offseason. The Titans will still try their best this season despite missing their leader, but it will be something different for them this year.
