The Devastator Returns Seeking His Fourth Straight Win
Dominick Reyes is entering the octagon this Saturday at UFC Fight Night hoping for a fourth straight victory. The fight will be held in Perth, Australia and will be Reyes first main event since starting his current win streak. He will be taking on Carlos Ulberg out of New Zealand who is a top five contender in the Light Heavyweight Division. Ulberg is coming off of a win to Jan Blachowicz back in March of this year. This will be a five round battle where Reyes will look to continue his win streak since mounting a compelling comeback in his career.
Dominick Reyes has had a career full of ups and downs thus far. In 2020, Reyes fought Jon Jones and lost by unanimous decision. This became a controversial stoppage as many observers and media scorers thought Reyes had outscored Jones in the first three rounds. Falling just short of the great Jon Jones while many thought he had won was tough for Reyes. Reyes went on to lose to Jan Blachowicz and Jiri Prochazka before his most recent loss by knockout in 2022 to Ryan Spann only in the first round. These were also tough losses for Reyes heading back into training camp. Since then Reyes has turned up the heat and found a serious rhythm as a fighter. His exciting comeback run started in June of 2024 after a TKO finish over Dustin Jacoby. Reyes continued to dominate with two more victories including wins over Anthony Smith in December of 2024, and Nikita Krylov in April of this year.
Dominick Reyes has all his focus on continuing his win streak, but Carlos Ulberg will not go down easy. Ulberg is extremely quick and physical with a lot of experience in kickboxing. Reyes has a lot of power, versatility, and an incredibly strong straight left which has become his money shot. For Ulberg, maintaining distance and using effective leg kicks will assist him. Reyes may look to conserve early and push his energy in later rounds. Overall, this will be a very exciting fight on Saturday and possibly another important stepping stone for Dominick Reyes.
