‘The Korean Superboy’ Faces a Wily ‘Willycat’ for a Featherweight Foundation at UFC Fight Night 276

UFC

The octagon is filled with fighters’ stories winning both fame and fortune, but this overshadows why most fans gather at this modern-day gladiatorial arena. The visceral and almost primal drive is to see a fighter truly gain glory for himself and, by proxy, those around him. Then a story is created with eager fans following along. One such story will be made on May 16th, 2026, in Las Vegas and broadcast live during the lineup of the UFC Fight Night: Allen vs. Costa event, where its headliners, Arnold Allen and Melquizael Costa, are competing for dominance in the Men’s Featherweight Division. However, let this not overshadow another story where a separate pair of fighters in the form of Dooho Choi and Daniel Santos are continuing to establish themselves within the same division as well.

This fight could mean Santos moves towards that end of becoming a higher-ranked fighter, where he is currently ranked 23rd overall. Coming into this fight, he can also capitalize on taking down his opponent. On average, he has taken down more opponents as well as submitted them compared to his opponent. Furthermore, he prevents most attempts made to put him into a takedown position from past bouts. He will undoubtedly be well prepared to grapple with his opponent should he decide to take the fight there. Both fighters share equal experience, too, with ‘Willycat’ having a 14-2-0 fight record versus Choi.

Choi, or ‘The Korean Superboy’, boasts a fight record of 16-4-1 himself and has knocked out a majority of the opponents he faces. He could use his extended reach over his opponent in this fight to gain leverage in any intense grappling struggle. He also has a shorter fight time due to his striking technique that finds a majority of those he faces KO/TKO’d mid-fight. Coupling this with his higher height puts him at a double advantage to be able to naturally create distance between the opposing fighter in this fight. Altogether, these facts have made his stats such that he is seen to absorb fewer punches in a fight on average.

The current projection of stats puts Santos as the winner of this fight largely by KO/TKO. The reason for this could be due to his natural tendency to have higher stamina from staying in a fight longer. He could utilize his striking power and tendency to land more strikes per minute than his opponent on average. If he does, even at the bare minimum, he will be able to put more points in his favor if the fight goes to a decision. However, all throughout this fight, he will have to watch for any takedown attempts made by his opponent. He would not want to have too much pride in his takedown defense and risk opening up an opportunity to get winded on a scramble at the ground level.

It is a safe bet that Santos will be the victor in this bout, where a story will be made. This is the fun of the Featherweight division, as both men and women from this division tend to exhibit scrappier qualities. These qualities include the ability to go to the ground and make audiences lean over the seat to get a better view of who will come out on top. Instead of raw power, they will see raw tenacity mixed with knockout energy. Santos has these aspects and more, making him a deadly opponent to face. The best way to view this story and see how it unfolds will be to stream the fight through Paramount+ at 8:00 p.m. EDT!
