‘The Quadfather’ Signs One-Year Deal with the Carolina Panthers

NFL

The ‘Quadfather,’ A.J. Dillon, has agreed to a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers. Known for the massive size of his quads and for his time as the former starting running back for the Green Bay Packers. Having left the Packers in 2024 and signing with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2025 on a one-year deal, he was not re-signed and entered free agency. Dillon would finalize a deal with the Panthers on a one-year deal, giving the veteran running back his next chance to shine on the big stage.

Coming out of Lawrence Academy, Dillon was a highly ranked four-star recruit despite breaking his leg in his senior year. Dillon originally committed to the University of Michigan, then famously flipped to Boston College to stay closer to home. Dillon’s talent would shine immediately on the field, rushing for 1589 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns to be named ACC Rookie of the Year. Dillon would rush for a career high 1685 rushing yards in his junior year in 2019, leaving Boston College as the first player in Boston College history to rush for 1000+ yards in each of his first two seasons and also the all-time rushing leader with 4382 yards.

After a strong junior year season, Dillon would declare for the 2020 NFL Draft and be selected 62nd overall by the Green Bay Packers. Dillon would pair up with Aaron Jones and form a formidable backfield duo that would see Dillon personally rush for 803 yards and catch another 313 receiving yards. Dillon would remain a key contributor and short-yardage specialist until he re-signed with the Green Bay Packers on a one-year deal and suffered a stinger/neck injury in training camp shortly after. He would miss the entire 2024 season due to the injury and eventually sign with the Philadelphia Eagles. He would rush for just 81 yards total the entire season, losing his spot to younger, more fit running backs and eventually hitting the free agent market. Dillon would then land a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers, hoping to revive his career and contribute to a championship team.
